چکیده

Background: The main concerns following general anesthesia, especially if it lasts longer than 4 hours, are postoperative pulmonary complications, including hypoxemia, lung atelectasis, and acute respiratory failure requiring reintubation. To avoid these extubation with support is crucial. high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) increases end-expiratory volume reduces the work of breathing to improve oxygenation by delivering a flow-dependent positive airway pressure. advantages using HFNC prevent reintubation have been demonstrated in patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery. Our target population's information still deficient, our trial set up uncover this proof. Objectives: evaluate effect versus low-flow on rate clinical outcomes early post-extubation adult who has prolonged anesthesia for non-cardiothoracic non-neuro surgery that requires surgical ICU admission. Methods: In study, 260 an intermediate high risk complications non-neurosurgery required hours were randomly assigned receive either or after extubation. primary outcome indicator within 72 tracheal Postoperative length stay hospital, mortality considered secondary measures. Conclusions: This study investigator-initiated randomized controlled powered test hypothesis application probably SICUs durations anesthesia.

High-flow nasal cannula versus conventional oxygen therapy after endotracheal extubation: a randomized crossover physiologic study.

OBJECTIVE Compare the short-term benefit of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) with non-rebreathing mask in terms of change in dyspnea, physiologic variables, and patient comfort in subjects after endotracheal extubation. METHODS A randomized crossover study was conducted in a 10-bed respiratory care unit in a university hospital. Seventeen mechanically ventilated subjects were randomized after e...

Effect of High-Flow Nasal Cannula versus Conventional Oxygen Therapy for Patients with Thoracoscopic Lobectomy after Extubation

Objective. To investigate whether high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy is superior to conventional oxygen therapy for reducing hypoxemia and postoperative pulmonary complications (PPC) in patients with thoracoscopic lobectomy after extubation. Methods. Patients with intermediate to high risk for PPC were enrolled in this study. Subjects were randomly assigned to HFNC group (HFNCG) or c...

Comparative evaluation of high-flow nasal cannula and conventional oxygen therapy in paediatric cardiac surgical patients: a randomized controlled trial.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to compare high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and conventional O2 therapy (OT) in paediatric cardiac surgical patients; the primary objective of the study was to evaluate whether HFNC was able to improve PaCO2 elimination in the first 48 h after extubation postoperatively. METHODS We conducted a randomized, controlled trial in pediatric cardiac surgical patien...
